This all started with a sugar addiction and a nasty one at that (which I still battle with from time to time – like last night I had 2 cookies from Insomnia Cookies in the East Village – pretty amazing stuff haha). The worst part about the addiction was that I didn’t even know how addicted I was until I came up with the Binary Diet. I knew that I had binge tendencies (unable to eat just one piece) and that I was unable to control my cravings on occasion but I didn’t really think about it too much until I started tracking what I ate. At the time, I was convinced that I only ate sugar on occasion and that it was only a small part of my diet, however, I was mistaken. By implementing the Binary Diet, I quickly realized that I was eating sugar at least every other day. While many will argue that sugar in moderation is ok, sugar in moderation was not a choice for me, as I would always go overboard. By leveraging the Binary Diet, I was able to go 3 months without sugar, dramatically reduce my carb intake, virtually eliminate caffeine from my diet and improve my health in a number of other areas.
What Is The Binary Diet?
The Binary Diet a simple but effective diet based on tracking. More specifically you track whether you had a certain type of food that day or not. It’s that simple. For example, if you want to give up sugar, you create a free Google Doc and each day you mark whether you had sugar or not. While your diet may already be fairly healthy, you may likely be shocked at what the data shows once you start tracking. Let’s assume that you only eat a small amount of sugar every other day. Is this bad? Why do you even eat that? It can be argued that eating small amounts of sugar is less healthy than not eating any sugar. Also, you have to ask why you are eating the sugar. Is it because you like it or because you’re addicted? When I hadn’t had sugar in 6 weeks, I no longer craved it.
Who Is It For:
It’s for everyone who wants to make a meaningful change in his or her health. While the Binary Diet may not be for everyone, it is especially effective for those who want to make a dramatic shift in their life such as giving up sugar or caffeine or even an athlete looking to get into carb backloading. Big change requires big action. MAKE IT HAPPEN.
My Binary Diet:
Below is a screenshot of the actual Google Doc I use to track my diet. Similar to a few years ago, if you were to ask me how my diet has been over the past 2 months I’d strongly argue that it was great, however, I know that it’s been less than optimal because the data keeps me honest with myself.
